Moat Farm: Supporting Current Renewables on a Flexible Solar & Storage System for a New-Build Site
Immersa partnered with Current Renewables to support the delivery of a solar and battery storage system at Moat Farm, a newly constructed site with no historical energy usage data. Our role was to provide the engineering, system design and battery supply needed to help the installer deliver a solution that met immediate demand while remaining flexible for future expansion.

Project Snapshot
Engineering-led design and rapid delivery to overcome grid constraints and future uncertainty.
Immersa Role:
Phase 1 system design, engineering package (G99 & SLD), and battery supplier
Installer:
Current RenewablesLocation:

Project Objective:
Deliver scalable energy system within 50kW grid constraint
Key Achievement:
Flexible foundation for future site expansion
Challenge
As a brand-new site, Moat Farm presented a common but complex challenge: there was no existing load profile to base system sizing on. At the same time, the site faced DNO constraints, limiting the available grid connection and placing restrictions on export capacity. The system needed to: meet expected minimum demand from day one; operate efficiently within a constrained grid connection; allow for straightforward expansion as site usage became clearer. Current Renewables required a technical partner to help balance these unknowns without overengineering the initial installation.
Approach
- Developing a balanced system design suitable for a site with no historical load data
- Supplying a full engineering package, including G99 and single line diagrams.
- Specifying and supplying AlphaESS’s new G3-H50 / 120.5kWh battery system
- Designing a fully DC-coupled architecture to maximise solar utilisation
- Coordinating rapid delivery from UK stock to meet programme requirements
Products & Services
Products
Services
- System sizing and Phase 1 design support
- Engineering documentation (G99, SLD)
- Technical integration guidance
Solution
All 70kWp of rooftop solar is DC-coupled into the AlphaESS G3-H50, demonstrating the system’s ability to support oversized solar generation while maintaining a 50kW AC grid connection.
Results & Impact
- A compliant, efficient system delivered despite limited site data
- DNO constraints successfully managed through DC-coupled design
- Rapid product availability supporting installation timelines
- Smooth commissioning and handover for both installer and client
